Welcome to Taxidermy Tools, a site devoted to the special interests of taxidermists from King Arthur's Tools®. King Arthur's Tools® is a small, family owned business located in Tallahassee, Florida.  We offer a unique range of taxidermy specialty power tools and accessories named after medieval knights and characters of the Round Table.  All our products are patented and have distinct safety and performance features. 

King Arthur's Tools® originally started developing products for wood working in 1990 and has since built a very large, loyal base of satisfied customers around the world.  We are privileged and honored that many of the world’s finest sculptors and artists use our tools.  In 2007, a small group of taxidermists found many of these tools were also invaluable to their industry.  We listened to their needs and came up with the Merlin® Taxidermy Tool Set, a versatile power tool with incredible accessories.   

The Merlin® Taxidermy Tool Set consists of six (6) specialty cutting and grinding accessories powered by a highly maneuverable, precision built, variable speed, miniature angle grinder. The tool set is the culmination of knowledge we gained through our research with a team comprised of volunteer professional taxidermists.

The six (6) accessories are designed to be used for applications like cutting, fleshing, shaping, sculpting, grinding and sanding of various materials such as hides, fiberglass, foam, foam core, wood, antlers, armadillo shell, alligator skin, bone and cartilage. Merlin® can be used for most non-impervious materials. 

What makes Merlin® so uniquely different is the consistent results you achieve in so many diverse jobs when you fit different accessories to the mini angle grinder. Combining the right accessory with the power unit creates a very versatile, easily controlled tool that our professionals have found can be used for a lot of different functions that you will come up against in taxidermy.  In many instances you will replace hand tools such as rasps, knives and sanders.  At the same time you will greatly improve your efficiency, productivity and creativity.

At 2” in diameter, Merlin® debuted as the World’s Smallest Chain Saw at the summer 2004 National Hardware Show in Las Vegas. Home & Garden Television (HGTV) featured Merlin® as the top "cool new product" in their 2004 showcase episode. CNN Weekend then covered Merlin® as one of the top 6 new products on the Tooling Around segment of their show and best new woodworking product.  Lancelot® is King Arthur's Tools® flagship blade and winner of the Florida Governor's Award for New Products.  HGTV featured Guinevere® ”The World’s Smallest Inflatable Sanding System” on their 2006 New Products Showcase.  Over the years, our products have appeared on several other television shows including PBS Modern Masters, ABC’s Extreme Home Makeover and the Martha Stewart Show. The Company was honored at the Small Business Excellence Awards in June 2003 as Business of the Year.  It was also awarded “Exporter of the Year”. 

King Arthur’s Tools® is dedicated to 1) always providing the highest levels of customer satisfaction and 2) is actively committed to developing and marketing innovative new tools.  Our research and development has resulted in cutting edge technology for wood working, taxidermy, dairy cow and equine hoof trimming. In addition to Merlin®, Lancelot® and Guinevere®, we also offer Squire®, a smaller version of Lancelot®. All these blades are used on 4-1/2” (115mm) angle grinders and are the only chain saw blades that can be fitted side by side, one on top of the other. Our miniature cutters, Percival® (discovered the Holy Grail) and Percival Plus® fit electric die grinders and air grinders. Galahad® (Son of Lancelot) is our range of incredible tungsten carbide discs used for final shaping.  Igraine® (Mother of King Arthur) headlines our flap disc sanders and completes the family of large (4”) accessories.  In addition, we have Knights and Kings Choices, (combination kits for all applications), replacement chains for all blades, sharpening files, anti cracking wood products and universal nuts. Our saw chain blades are unmatched in the industry and our chains are manufactured exclusively for King Arthur's Tools® by Oregon Saw Chain, the leaders in the industry.
